The Beauty of Broken Things
You know that feeling when something precious breaks and you just want to throw it away? The Japanese have a different idea. Kintsugi, literally meaning "golden joinery," is the art of repairing broken pottery with gold or silver lacquer. But here's the beautiful part – they're not trying to hide the cracks. They're celebrating them.
Instead of pretending the break never happened, kintsugi makes those fracture lines the most stunning part of the piece. The philosophy suggests that breakage and repair are simply part of an object's history, not something to disguise. Pretty profound metaphor for life, isn't it?
Kintsugi & Wine: A Golden Repair Workshop, Stoney J’s, 5:00 pm - 7:00 pm. (Cumming)
